GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews finished work on westbound bridges along the Lloyd Expressway, so starting this week drivers traveling between Barker Avenue and Boehne Camp Road will shift to the north lane while the south lane is closed for construction — use caution at key intersections. 44 News
- ➤ Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office seeks help to locate relatives of Donald Washington, a Baker Flats Apartments resident who died on Dec. 29, 2025, in his home. Call the office at 812-435-5730 during business hours Monday through Friday. 44 News
- ➤ On Monday, the Indiana Department of Transportation shifted east and west traffic onto the westbound lanes between Barker Avenue and Boehne Camp Road so workers could revamp the eastbound lanes & complete further construction on the Lloyd Expressway. The project follows recent bridge completions and will run until 2028. Courier & Press

- ➤ Evansville native Carlos Gonzalez performed on New Year's Day at the Rose Bowl with Indiana University's marching group after long practices. The team now prepares to face Oregon in the Peach Bowl on Friday and looks to reach a national championship with two wins. 44 News
- ➤ Silver Creek clinched the No. 1 ranking in Class 3A boys basketball after winning the Ray Furney Holiday Classic at Lawrenceburg Jan. 2-3 — their 5-1 record helped them leap ahead as Indianapolis Cathedral suffered two close losses. The poll was released Jan. 5. Courier & Press
- ➤ Indiana football draws comparisons to the famed Milan High School basketball team as the undefeated Hoosiers prepare to face Oregon in the Peach Bowl on Friday, Jan. 9. - ➤ The Hoosiers earned their first-ever Rose Bowl win with a 38-3 victory over Alabama on Jan. 5, keeping them one win away from the National Championship & a commemorative print featuring coach Curt Cignetti celebrating with linebacker Aiden Fisher is now available at the USA TODAY Store. - ➤ Retired sportscaster Gary Danielson said the Ducks will take Indiana & their upcoming Peach Bowl rematch seriously after the undefeated Hoosiers handed them their only loss. The game will be held Friday as both teams prepare to prove their focus. Courier & Press
