- ➤ Officials from Cops Connecting with Kids are preparing for a Disney trip on Monday. Volunteers at Glenn Wood Academy sorted backpacks and snacks by school — ensuring every student has what they need. 14 News
- ➤ Renovations are planned for two Newburgh library branches, with the downtown branch closing and the Bell Road branch offering limited services plus painting, roof updates and other improvements underway as officials set a start date. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Evansville native Olympic gold medalist Lilly King replied with a video to Scott Elementary student Addison after reading her paper that praised King as her favorite athlete and noted her win in the 100 breaststroke. The school shared the proud moment on social media. 14 News
- ➤ Princeton Community High School received a $15,000 donation in honor of Jackie Young, with $5,000 supporting athletic programs + $10,000 funding academics through its Renaissance program. The school held a pep rally Friday and distributed Skechers items to students. 14 News
- ➤ USI received a $1M gift from Larry Rutledge to fund graduate nursing scholarships for students in family nurse and acute care programs; the institution named its renovated auditorium Rutledge Auditorium in honor of his donation. Courier & Press

- ➤ Mesker Park Zoo will host its new after-hours speed dating event Social Safari: Birds, Bees, & SSPs on Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Koch Carousel Event Lodge & Kley Building; attendees aged 21-35 will join a brief talk & interactive games with refreshments for $25. 14 News

- ➤ Mater Dei High School announced that Head Boys Soccer Coach Scott Wilson resigned after seven seasons (school officials said they will start the search for his replacement immediately). 14 News
- ➤ A 176-page coffee table book is available to honor Indiana football’s 12-0 season and will cover the National Championship game on Monday, Jan. 19, with a 10% pre-order discount. - ➤ Southwestern Indiana wrestlers competed at the IHSAA finals on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (Event Center), with North Posey's Kenna Kleinschmidt finishing fourth, teammates Adelyn Gamblin and Madalyn McCarty placing fifth, and Mya Menke of Southridge finishing seventh.
