COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mesker Park Zoo officials say Sumatran tiger Luna died at 3 after a foreign object lodged in her esophagus caused fatal complications despite emergency care at a specialized facility (she joined the zoo in 2024 after being born at the Oklahoma City Zoo in 2022).  14 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • RESRG Automotive announced that its facility on Congress Avenue in Evansville and its Farmington, Missouri plant will close later in 2026 due to changed market demand, with support services available for affected workers.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • EVSC is constructing a new area at Central High School to expand the Academy of Science and Medicine program with new classrooms, lab space and a specialized entrance. The expansion will raise enrollment from 250 to 500 and be partly available in the fall and complete in spring.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Evansville road crews are pre-treating highways with brine ahead of a winter storm expected on Saturday morning as drivers are advised to use caution near the slow-moving trucks.  14 News
  • Traffic will change tomorrow on the Eastside as part of the Lloyd4U project; eastbound vehicles will use the outside two lanes along Burkhardt Road and I-69 until summer.  14 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fire Chief Scott Foreman urges residents to follow basic heating safety rules as a winter storm watch is in effect this weekend across the Tri-State area, warning that space heaters must be placed at least 3 feet from combustibles & plugged directly into wall outlets to reduce fire risks.  14 News
  • Vanderburgh County Health Department is partnering with Popham Construction to offer free radon test kits on Friday, Jan. 23; Saturday, Jan. 24; Friday, Jan. 30; and Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Civic Center Complex and Old Courthouse to help residents test for high radon levels.  14 News
  • American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage after donations fell 35% in December because winter weather disrupted several drives. Executive Director Beth Sweeney urges local organizations and residents to donate soon to keep hospitals stocked with life-saving blood.  14 News
