- ➤ Evansville Goodwill explained that donations at its facility support local education and job programs (Excel center and Goodskills Academy) while accepting all gently used items except mattresses, paint, and chemicals. 14 News

- ➤ The University of Southern Indiana earned the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification after a detailed self-study process, recognizing its ongoing work with community partners (USI first received the honor in 2008 and was reclassified in 2015). Courier & Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS

- ➤ Residents should protect food during power outages as guidelines recommend keeping fridge doors closed to maintain safe temperatures below 40° Fahrenheit while full freezers retain cold for roughly 48 hours (half-full freezers for 24 hours); USDA tips include grouping food and freezing items not needed.
