  • Evansville Area Jeepers are launching Operation Snowflake this weekend to give free snow rides to healthcare and emergency workers as a winter storm brings dangerous travel. Volunteer drivers with modified Jeeps are expected to serve across Vanderburgh County — and nearby areas like Henderson and Jasper.  44 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • CenterPoint Energy expects significant snowfall and bitter cold today and advises customers to lower thermostats, open blinds, clear vents, change filters, and carefully brush natural gas meters — simple steps to keep homes comfortable — as winter weather approaches.  14 News
  • Evansville is bracing for heavy snowfall as the winter storm will drop 12—18 inches from today through Sunday, and dangerous driving conditions may trigger school and business closures with lows in the single digits.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • About 110 Indiana National Guard soldiers and airmen have been activated to assist state and local agencies during severe winter weather expected to hit central and southern Indiana this weekend. They will help stranded motorists along major transportation routes + coordinate efforts from a command team based in Evansville.  44 News
