COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, United Caring Services and local church groups held a mile-long White Flag Walk for Cold Nights in Evansville to raise awareness of roughly 500 homeless facing harsh winter conditions, while shelters added extra space & provided safe refuge for those without a home.  14 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wild Eggs is set to open its first Evansville restaurant next month, but the opening is delayed to late February (officials will share the new date once finalized).  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • First responders will sharpen extrication techniques at the Ohio Township Fire Department's 'Maximize Your Extrication' training class held at TriState Towing on N. Evans Ave in Evansville. Space is limited to 24 participants + registrations are available by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.  44 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Evansville adaptive hockey team, Hockey Sled Dogs, won a 5-0 exhibition game to raise awareness for sled hockey and recruit players. The free-to-play Paralympic sport uses special sleds (with blades) and sticks to move the puck.  14 News
  • Central High’s Maddy Shirley reached her 2,000th career point last Saturday, Jan. 31, making her only the second high school girl in Evansville history to join the elite club — she scored the milestone with a free throw against Castle.  Courier & Press
  • On Jan. 31, Mater Dei secured its 50th straight sectional title by scoring 329.5 points with 11 champions (local wrestlers advancing to regionals) as area teams prepare for the regional meet at Castle next weekend.  Courier & Press
