- ➤ Evansville organizations will celebrate Black History Month with a Unity Concert at New Hope Church on Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. — local libraries and groups will host scavenger hunts, exhibits, and a Freedom Rider talk at Bosse High School on Feb. 12. - ➤ Evansville NAACP will host its MLK Community Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 21 at C-REC (Greater St. James Church, 484 S. Governor St.) where Pastor Ryan Jackson will speak on the event's theme, 'The Fierce Urgency of Now.' Courier & Press

- ➤ The Gibson County Visitors & Tourism Bureau announced the Gold Heritage Days Festival will return to Princeton on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 after a long hiatus, partnering with Downtown Princeton to revive the annual event. 14 News
- ➤ Eight top drum corps, including (Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard and Colts Drums and Bugle Corps), will perform at Drums on the Ohio on Wednesday, Jul. 22 at the Reitz Bowl. Tickets are on sale online for this returning summer event. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ EVSC will resume bus service today with a 2-hour delay after a special team checked main roads + sidewalks for safe travel following below-freezing days; officials said they will continue to monitor conditions to help students return to class. 14 News
- ➤ Ivy Tech has received over $192K from United Way to launch a program offering low-income students training, financial literacy, leadership classes, and certifications such as a CDL & construction license in southwestern Indiana. Officials say the initiative will break down barriers and expand job opportunities. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Following a severe winter storm that disrupted trash service, the city partnered with Republic Services to offer residents no-cost temporary dumpsters at six strategic locations (for household waste only) that will remain in place for one week as crews work to navigate icy conditions. 44 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A forum on mental health will be held at EVPL Central’s Browning Room on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., giving Evansville residents a chance to hear from law enforcement, mental health providers, and community members about jail diversion and supportive care. 14 News
