- ➤ Boonville’s Polar Plunge returns to Scales Lake this weekend to benefit the Special Olympics of Indiana. The school plunge took place Friday at 10 a.m. (the community event is set for noon today) after last year’s events raised over $70,000. 14 News
- ➤ PAAWS introduced adoptable pet Scooby, a mixed breed around 2 years old known for being well-behaved and preferring a home with a fenced yard during Furry Friend Friday. Volunteers are asking for any information on Kelvin, a microchipped dog reported missing, with details shown on screen. 44 News

- ➤ Wash Boss Car Wash reported a surge in customers today as drivers clear snow, ice + salt from their vehicles after the winter storm. The new business advises washing the undercarriage to help prevent corrosion as temperatures rise. 14 News

- ➤ Showplace Cinemas East has closed its IMAX screen for a major upgrade that adds laser projection and improved sound until Feb. 26 — the upgrade will provide sharper images and an immersive audio experience. 14 News

- ➤ USI launched the Screagle Watch app to boost campus safety. The app features an Emergency Help! red button and friend walk that lets students share their locations in real time and is also available to the public. 14 News

- ➤ Officials say Tekoppel Avenue will close for a short time Friday for demolition of the bridge at the Lloyd Expressway; drivers should follow marked detours when work begins after 3:30 p.m. 14 News

- ➤ National Wear Red Day began Friday as part of American Heart Month to raise heart health awareness. Dr. Akshay Goel (Deaconess Heart Group) noted heart disease remains a leading cause of death, highlighting the campaign’s national impact. 14 News

- ➤ The University of Evansville softball team opened its season on Friday with a 4–1 win over Maine when sophomore Kate Ridgway pitched her first collegiate no-hitter (a standout performance) while the Aces lost 16–14 to Mercer in a later game.
