- ➤ Registration is open for Patoka Lake's Women’s Wilderness Weekend, a women-only event that offers camping and hands-on outdoor skills for participants 16 and older. The event begins May 15 at the Patoka Lake Nature Center in Birdseye (registration is required by April 15; cost is $85). Courier & Press
- ➤ YWCA Evansville marks 25 years of its YES! recovery program with two March events that honor resilience and community support. The Candlelight Walk for Recovery takes place on March 7 at 6 p.m. from 118 Vine St. to the Civic Center, and a 25th Anniversary Luncheon will be held on March 13 at Venue 812 + tickets cost $25. - ➤ Willard Public Library (in partnership with the Evansville Stamp Club) continues to host a free stamp exhibit at the Browning Gallery that began Feb. 23 and will present a program on U.S. Postal history on Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m. 14 News

- ➤ The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville honored four local students today at One Main Financial Services, including Youth of the Year Samantha Blackwell (advancing to the state competition in April) during its annual event celebrating emerging local leaders. 44 News
- ➤ Ivy Tech Evansville will host a free Pancakes and Ivy event on Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. to noon at Koch Student Center, 3501 N. First Ave. – families can enjoy a pancake breakfast, campus tours, kids’ activities, and sample 12 college classes. Courier & Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Seven Hills Road is closed between Barton/Volkman Road and Old Highway 57 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for scheduled ditching work (only emergency vehicles may pass) as crews improve drainage and advise drivers to use alternate routes. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville Water and Sewer crews began restricting lanes on North St. Joseph Avenue between Indiana and Illinois Streets Monday for new waterline work, and the closures will remain until Thursday. 14 News
- ➤ Crews will begin working on Highway 41 Monday, Mar. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Lynch Road and I-69, with intermittent lane closures planned for both directions while officials tidy up roads and shoulders. 14 News

- ➤ Ascension St. Vincent Warrick is hosting a cancer screening event Saturday (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) where residents can be screened for breast, lung, prostate, and colorectal cancers; call 812-897-4800 for a time slot and financial assistance. 14 News

- ➤ The Evansville Thunder High School hockey team reached the 3A state championship after defeating Crown Point, Adams, and Culver Academy B in three playoff games; the final will be held in Hammond at the Kube Ice Arena on Feb. 28 at 3:00 p.m. 44 News
