COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Scott Township Park will build a rainbow bridge to honor pets who have passed away. The bridge will be placed along the edge of the woods into the park's open field, and visitors can hang pet collars as tributes.  14 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Back Nine will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new indoor golf franchise in Evansville on Saturday. Mayor Stephanie Terry will attend and hit the ceremonial first tee shot as the business offers affordable memberships and 24/7 access, joining over 400 locations across 40 states.  14 News
  • Shoe Carnival announced CEO Mark Worden resigned and vice chairman Cliff Sifford was named interim president on Wednesday. The company is now searching for a permanent successor as it prepares for its next phase of growth.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • This weekend the Old National Events Plaza will host Evansville Horror Con that celebrates horror films, pop culture, and cosplay with appearances by Nick Castle and David Howard Thorton. The event runs Saturday (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)  14 News
  • Country singer Koe Wetzel returns to the Tri-State for his Night Champion World Tour, featuring new songs such as Surrounded and Time Goes On and his fan-favorite High Road. Artist presale begins March 10 at 10 a.m. with general on-sale March 13 for U.S. dates.  14 News
  • Showplace Cinemas East in Evansville reopened its IMAX theater after a month of upgrades that added new technology, brighter images, improved sound, and updated seating, finishing on time for the Scream 7 IMAX Fan Event on Thursday.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Evansville seniors at the Carver Senior Center learned about Baptisttown’s past during Black History Month when longtime resident Watez Phelps shared personal memories of the neighborhood’s once-thriving African-American community (anchored by Lincoln Ave), and community partners plan a guided tour in May.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Department of Transportation said crews will begin closing lanes on I-64 near Lynnville on Monday, March 2 for bridge maintenance over Cole Creek and County Road 100 West until early May. Passing lanes in both directions will remain open during the project + ensuring continued traffic movement.  Courier & Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will begin a monthly schedule at the North Main McDonald’s location on the fourth Thursday to offer free or low-cost healthcare for eligible women and infants — a step to reduce high infant mortality rates in the area.  14 News
  • The Ohio Township Fire Department in Newburgh today advises babysitters to learn home layouts, know how to call 911, and identify two exits (including smoke alarm sounds) to prepare for emergencies. Parents should review these measures with babysitters before leaving children unattended.  44 News

  • In January, Vanderburgh County's median home listing price was $204,900, a 4.7% increase from December's $195,673—nearly 176 new listings marked a 51.7% jump from January 2025, while Evansville metro prices climbed to $259,891.  Courier & Press
