  • Evansville Police Department invites residents to join Pickleball with the Police on Saturday, Apr. 25 at the C.K. Newsome Center, with three sessions available (20 players per session) and registration open until Apr. 20.  14 News
  • On Monday morning, dozens of volunteers, city workers and neighbors cleaned up a mobile home community on Oak Hill Road by removing trash and unsafe structures. City officials said crews expect several more days to finish cleanup and will discuss long-term improvements for the area.  44 News
  • Evansville Animal Care and Control will host its 'Killer Cuteness' adoption event (Mar. 13-14) to let potential adopters draw tags that set an adoption price or offer a free gift and ease shelter overpopulation.  44 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country music star Thomas Rhett will perform at the Ford Center on Aug. 20 as part of his (The Soundtrack of Life) tour. Presale tickets begin on March 11 and general sales start on March 13 at the Ford Center ticket office and Ticketmaster.  14 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported Evansville’s gas price at $3.105 on March 9, up from $2.668 earlier this month. The increase comes as oil costs rise globally due to Middle Eastern tensions and may push prices higher.  Courier & Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Medal of Honor recipient Donald Ballard will speak on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at 6:00 p.m. inside Carter Hall on the USI campus. He will share his experiences from Vietnam and his years of service supporting veterans.  14 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Waterworks Road — between Veterans Memorial and Highway 41 — will remain closed until rising Ohio River levels recede later this week, officials said.  14 News

  • With spring in full swing, Deaconess doctors in Evansville advise residents to keep windows closed on high pollen days and shower after outdoor activities to ease sneezing and congestion — over-the-counter nasal sprays and decongestants can offer relief.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Castle Knights upset North in an overtime win on Saturday to clinch the sectional crown and a trip to Regionals. Head Coach Brian Gibson said the team is building belief for upcoming challenges (14 News at 10:00 p.m. will have more details).  14 News
  • Top collegiate swimmers and divers start today at the Deaconess Aquatic Center — host of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships through March 14. Preliminary heats begin at 10:30 a.m., diving preliminaries at 1:00 p.m., and finals at 5:30 p.m.  44 News
  • University officials confirmed that USI coach Stan Gouard and UE coach David Ragland will continue as head coaches next season — a decision that aims to stabilize the teams after a difficult winter.  Courier & Press
