- ➤ Evansville Animal Care & Control hosted a Friday the 13th ‘Killer Cuteness’ adoption event where adopters choose a pet and draw for a fee not over $14 that includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. The event will continue tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Uhlhorn Street. 14 News
- ➤ The Vatican announced Friday that Pope Leo XIV named Father Godfrey Mullen bishop of Belleville, Illinois; he served 10 years in the Diocese of Evansville as rector of St. Benedict Cathedral—earning congratulations from Bishop Joseph Siegel. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville’s YWCA celebrated 25 years of its “Yes!” Program that supports women's recovery with safe housing, workforce development, and financial services. The community is invited to a Candlelight Walk for Recovery and Remembrance this Saturday at 6 in front of the building on Vine Street, ending at the Civic Center. 14 News
- ➤ Fire Dog Kia’s Family Fun Day is happening today from 1 to 4 p.m. in the AMC parking lot, hosted by Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department (winds may reach up to 40 mph during the event). 44 News

- ➤ Art in Bloom returns at the museum’s galleries from Friday, Apr. 17 to Saturday, Apr. 19 as florists transform artworks into live floral displays — the event starts with a Cocktail Preview Party on Thursday, Apr. 16 at 6 p.m. and includes a Blind Design Challenge on Apr. 18. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville’s Second Annual Mac & Cheese Festival will be held Saturday, March 21 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Main Street Food & Beverage (9th and Main Street) with a VIP hour at 12:00 p.m., over 40 $5 offerings, live music, family activities and contests. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Signature School officials announced plans to open a new middle school in downtown Evansville by August 2028. They purchased the building last June and will complete renovations to provide classroom, recreation, and lunch spaces for 7th and 8th grade students, with a $6 million fundraising goal over halfway reached. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CenterPoint Energy has started a gas line project on Evansville's east side that will restrict lanes on westbound Indiana Street and intermittently on southbound Cross Point Boulevard for three weeks, officials said. Motorists should allow extra travel time and follow posted signage in the construction zone. 44 News

- ➤ The Pocket Athletic Conference announced a two-division format that will begin in the 2027-28 school year (aimed at easing travel challenges among 13 schools in eight counties) while keeping the football schedule unchanged. Courier & Press
