- ➤ Honor Flight Southern Indiana will host Operation Mail Call on May 2 to welcome veterans returning from Washington, DC while residents drop off thank-you letters at local sites from April 1 to April 22. 14 News
- ➤ The Downtown Evansville Improvement District announced a 2026 schedule of 10 events to boost the local economy — featuring the Spring Wine Walk on April 24, the Sidewalk Sale on May 9, and A Downtown Christmas on December 5. The weekly Market on Main runs June 3 to Sept. 30. 44 News

- ➤ Retailers in the community are setting holiday hours for Easter Sunday, April 5. Major chains like Target, Costco, and Macy's will be closed while Walmart, Kroger, and Home Depot will remain open—shoppers should call local stores to verify hours. Courier & Press
- ➤ Beginning Monday, Evansville Toys and Games will close its main store until May but will keep its card store open for buying and selling toys, and officials ask that customers send pictures of their items (to check if they qualify) before visiting. 14 News
- ➤ 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee is opening its first Newburgh location at 4011 Old State Road 261 on April 6 at 10:00 a.m. — local representatives and chamber officials will host the ceremony and present a check to the Warrick Humane Society. 14 News

- ➤ Today, the University of Southern Indiana received a $150,000 grant from Lilly Endowment to study how AI can improve student learning and workforce readiness, and the project will review academic programs + consult local industry to shape future courses through 2026. Courier & Press
- ➤ Deaconess Gateway Hospital will host a free high-school nursing fair on Thursday, April 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to introduce students to the healthcare field — families must sign up to attend. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ INDOT began closing north and southbound passing lanes on U.S. 41 between Diamond Avenue and the Lloyd Expressway on Monday, March 30 for pipe work, with closures expected to last about three weeks — weather permitting. Courier & Press
- ➤ INDOT officials will begin lane closures on westbound State Road 66 in Tell City on Monday, Apr. 6 as crews start sidewalk and approach construction between Washington Street and William Tell Boulevard. The work will run through early September — weather permitting. 14 News
- ➤ INDOT will begin closing the southbound passing lane and on-ramp on I-69 near Oak Grove Road overpass on or around Monday, Apr. 6 to allow maintenance on the Oak Grove Road bridge — work is expected to continue through early June. 44 News
