- ➤ The Red Cross opened an emergency flood shelter at Methodist Temple (2109 Lincoln Avenue) to help residents affected by severe weather and potential flooding. Volunteers provide safe shelter, meals and support 24 hours a day. 14 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 25-year-old Evansville man, Eric Ogburn, was accused of battery and animal cruelty after he hit and tried to strangle a woman and kicked two puppies on Friday evening in the 2100 block of Waggoner Avenue, and officers said he threw one puppy against a tree causing it to seize before fleeing and being taken into custody on a $5,000 bond. 14 News

- ➤ Emergency management officials joined a boat tour in Ohio County to check rising water levels that now submerge former dry land — forecasts predict the high waters will continue for the next seven to eight days. 14 News

- ➤ The Evansville/Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency warned drivers that flooding on the Lloyd Expressway between Barker Avenue and Tekoppel Avenue creates a risk of hydroplaning—officials advised caution as reports showed other roads flooded from heavy rain this week. 14 News
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation closed both northbound and southbound lanes on I-69 between U.S. 50 and State Road 58 due to high water, and set a detour using U.S. 50—U.S. 231—State Road 58. 14 News
- ➤ City officials in Evansville urged residents to avoid driving on flooded roads until the storm passes—drivers are told to steer clear of standing water that may be deeper than it appears. 14 News
