  • Five local brothers and their wives celebrated 50 years of marriage with dinner, a slideshow, and toasts at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano on Friday. The Higgs family holds a reunion every other year — with another gathering planned in June for up to 80 relatives.  14 News
  • The Ohio Township Fire Department reminds residents to use proper helmets, lights, and safe riding practices as more people cycle and walk in warmer weather. Officials urge everyone to follow guidelines for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers to help keep streets safe.  44 News
  • Former Castle running back Antonio Harris of Purdue donated ($2,500) to Chandler Elementary during its spring family event on Friday, April 10. Harris said the gift will help support kids’ athletic dreams and honor his lifelong connection with the community.  Courier & Press
  • PAAWS volunteers visited the 44News studio today to introduce Jabba, a sweet over-one-year-old mix from Evansville Animal Control looking for his forever home; he needs training and a spacious yard + locals can learn more about adoption and support options.  44 News
  • Six Strings donated $5,000 to local nonprofit Granted to fund wishes for children with terminal illnesses, funds raised through its Six Strings Got Talent contest. The check was given as construction on Granted’s House of Hope moves forward + the facility is set to open June 11th.  14 News
  • Hadi Shriners bring back their popular Half Pot Raffle with ticket sales starting today and continuing through May 30. Tickets can be purchased online or at booths open Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. across the Tri-State area.  44 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 9th Annual Evansville Taco Festival will return to downtown Main Street on Saturday, April 25 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.—with a VIP hour at noon, the event will feature over 15 taco vendors and 40 premium tequilas, live music, family activities, free parking, and a complimentary drink for the first 1,000 guests.  44 News

  • Sergeant Sam Smith enters his final year in the annual 'Guns and Hoses' boxing event tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Ford Center, where he trains all year for the fundraiser benefiting local families through 911 Gives Hope (marking his 11th bout).  14 News
  • Jackie Young, a Princeton native, has signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Aces worth nearly $1.2 million, making her the first WNBA player to secure a million-dollar deal. The contract follows a recent agreement that nearly increased the league’s salary cap fivefold.  14 News
