COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Young & Established takes over Vann-Pollack Park's youth baseball league and park upkeep, restoring neglected fields for sports and community events. The group says the work may delay the upcoming summer season and plans to partner with the Parks Department to create a safe, active space.  44 News
  • A volunteer-led litter patrol in Vanderburgh County has recycled nearly 11,000 pounds of trash by working with (Republic Services, District, and County Council) to keep streets clean.  14 News
  • Mesker Park Zoo welcomed a new baby porcupine named Pistachio on March 31, born to parents BIC and Cece, and the young animal has been seen following its mother in the Children’s Forest.  14 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • DISH Network has not carried 14 News or other Gray Media channels for over a month after rejecting contract proposals, despite extensions during severe weather and major events like NFL playoffs + the Super Bowl, leaving subscribers with fewer viewing options as the dispute continues.  14 News
  • Plans for Wingstop are in the works on the west side along South Red Bank Road in a complex with Maurices. The developer has not provided a project timeline.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After overcoming hardships including the loss of a teammate and coach, New Tech Robotics will compete for the fourth time in the state tournament Saturday, Apr. 18 in Indianapolis + they plan to show their team’s resilience.  14 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Evansville officials launched a digital tool (the Climate Action Dashboard) on Tuesday to track progress on long-term sustainability and carbon reduction goals. The interactive platform displays emissions data from energy, transportation, land, waste, and resilience so residents can review past trends and future projections.  44 News
  • The City of Evansville launched a digital Climate Action Dashboard today to track progress from its 2025 Climate Action Plan — letting residents view emissions data from five sectors, including energy, transportation, land, waste and resilience. Created with startup ClimateNav and a federal grant, the tool supports local sustainability efforts.  44 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana Department of Transportation officials announced a new traffic pattern near the SR 165 interchange to Poseyville that will begin Tuesday — one lane will remain open in both directions and the westbound on-ramp will be closed. The work will continue through June.  14 News
  • Residents met Tuesday at St. Paul's UCC Church — a local landmark — in Evansville to share concerns about housing conditions and eviction procedures amid a state investigation into EHA and Advantix properties. Their input will help guide the investigation moving forward.  44 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Realtor.com data showed that home prices in Vanderburgh County rose 18.2% in January, with the median sale price reaching $217,626 compared to December’s $184,062. Single-family homes sold at a median of $208,750 as total residential sales reached $93.5 million during the month.  Courier & Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Evansville Thunderbolts defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers in a dramatic three-game series and will face the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in a best-of-five semifinal starting Friday and Saturday at Berglund Center - the series winner meets either the Peoria Rivermen or Knoxville Ice Bears in the President’s Cup Final.  44 News
