- ➤ A 96-year-old Evansville man recalled being 8 during the Great Flood of 1937 when water rushed onto Henning Avenue and his family had to leave their home—he said today’s flood rises slowly because levee improvements kept the water lower. 14 News
- ➤ Hydration Station founder Jack Deig said registration is open for a 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 10th at 10 a.m. at the Evansville Museum along Southeast Riverside Drive—participants pay $10 to support new water dispensing stations. 44 News
- ➤ The Stringtown Community Club’s softball fields flooded last week after heavy rain, leaving about 250 kids without a place to play. Community members and multiple organizations provided temporary facilities—ensuring play could resume while the club plans a Field Day in about two weeks to prepare the field. 14 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the Evansville Police Department stopped 77 vehicles for speeding on the Lloyd Expressway after receiving many complaints—officers issued 57 citations, 33 warnings, and arrested one driver. 14 News
- ➤ Officials at Ellis Park and Owensboro Racing and Gaming warned the public yesterday not to register or deposit money with unauthorized social media pages, websites, or apps using their name — they were working with Facebook and authorities to remove the scams. 14 News

- ➤ Evansville residents met Tuesday night to share ideas for the city’s 2026 budget which focused on repairing roads, improving sidewalk safety near schools and boosting affordable housing. Mayor Stephanie Terry said the feedback will shape talks with department heads starting in July—over $5 million will go to road repairs this summer. 44 News
