  • The American Red Cross and Evansville/Vanderburgh EMA are handing out storm cleanup supplies to residents affected by recent severe weather—supplies are available at the Harte Pool parking lot on N. Boeke Road today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  14 News
  • The deadline is Friday for sending thank you cards and letters to 86 Honor Flight of Southern Indiana veterans who will return to Evansville Regional Airport from Washington, D.C. on May 3 before leaving the city to visit war memorials.  Courier & Press

CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested a 44-year-old Evansville man (Edward Sharp) who had just gotten out of prison on drug charges after officers stopped a car for a traffic violation and found a handgun, marijuana, fake weed, fentanyl and nearly $1,700 cash on him along with cocaine and meth on the driver, and Sharp said he gave the drugs to hide for him.  14 News
  • Evansville police opened an investigation on Tuesday — dead animals were found at a home on Madison Avenue and Animal Control was on scene; the case remains under review.  44 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mater Dei High School named Terry Muensterman as the new girls basketball coach after the hire was announced Tuesday; the 1973 alum—who brings over 30 years of coaching experience and strong family ties to the school—said he plans to build a winning team following last season's 8-12 record. Most of the roster is set to return as he works to improve the program.  Courier & Press

  • Evansville’s Department of Parks and Recreation announced that the old playground equipment at Stevenson Park will be removed next week for new play features, a safety fence and mulch—supported by a generous donation from Enterprise Zone and landscaping by Keep Evansville Beautiful on May 10—and is part of Mayor Stephanie Terry’s Neighborhood Revitalization plan to improve local parks.  WEHT
