COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Holly’s House and Lieberman Technologies will host a Digital Safety Summit on April 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Central High School and online to help families and community leaders address online solicitation of children (the free event includes speakers, live demonstrations, and an interactive Q&A session).  44 News
  • After a March crash on West Franklin Street, the victim's girlfriend and friend started Project Kaiden to boost safety by adding bollards, lowering speed limits to 20 mph, and limiting cars during late nights; local business owners have given early support and hope to widen the plan's scope.  14 News
  • Downtown Evansville will host the Spring Wine Walk on Main St. Friday, Apr. 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Community members can enjoy wine, shopping, entertainment and dining while collecting stamps from three wineries for a gift basket drawing (ticket prices are $15 general and $25 with extras).  14 News
  • Romain Subaru donated $13,000 to the Boys & Girls Club today during its Share the Love event at the dealership on East Virginia Street. Club leaders say the contribution funds programs that offer homework help + nutritious meals for kids.  44 News
  • YMCA Camp Carson got a Lilly Endowment grant to upgrade its infrastructure & safety and expand its year‑round operations. The funding supports environmental stewardship & offers a better camp experience for Indiana youth.  Courier & Press
  • Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden will host its 25th Annual Bloomin’ Zoo Plant Sale May 2-3 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. offering a diverse selection of plants by expert horticulturists and live music on May 2 with free admission for zoo members and included entry.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Aubrey Minnis, a 10-year-old from Princeton, got a used and signed guitar from Keith Urban at the TMMI concert at Ford Center in Evansville Saturday night — a moment her family celebrated. Kevin Minnis, her father and owner of Menace Guitars, said it fulfilled a long-time dream.  14 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local groups are hosting free Earth Day events starting tomorrow. The Sierra Club and Solar United Neighbors lead Clean Power to the People at Haynies Corner from 6 to 9 p.m., and libraries plus galleries offer free crafts, tours and exhibits this weekend.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials are advancing final construction on Section 3 of I-69 Ohio River Crossing approach bridges by setting nearly 200 concrete beams ranging from 125-188 feet. They expect to pour the concrete decks soon and complete work by late 2026 to ensure all-weather access for building crews.  14 News
  • Crews began repairs on I-69 near Morton's Gap on Monday to stabilize a sinkhole caused by historic mining; officials said one lane remains open each way and drivers can use Highway 41 through Earlington into Madisonville as an alternate route. The work will continue until the end of July.  14 News

  • In March in Vanderburgh County, the median home list price dropped to $168,175 — a 9.4% decrease from February — with homes averaging 1,514 sqft at $126 per sqft and listings taking a median of 54 days on the market with 212 new entries.  Courier & Press

  • At the EVSC board meeting on Monday, Apr. 20, Brad Elliott was named North High School girls basketball head coach as Tyler Choate stepped down after a 10-year run, while Trey McClain became Reitz girls soccer head coach (the changes bring longtime staff to lead established programs).  Courier & Press
