  • The annual Evansville Taco Festival returns downtown today from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with over 15 taco trucks, live music, taco eating contests, and a VIP hour at noon — complimentary drinks are offered to the first 1,000 guests, and family activities add to the community vibe.  44 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Thomas Sprigg Senior Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century will reinter remains of at least 20 Civil War veterans today at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery (2500 Mesker Park Drive) at 2 p.m. and plans to dedicate a historical marker in October at the original Babytown Cemetery.  Courier & Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana and local partners launched the Build a Home Library initiative at Delaware Elementary—part of the We Read campaign—to provide 13 new books and a container each to elementary students. Officials will visit Glenwood Academy on Monday to continue the effort.  14 News
  • Holly’s House held a digital safety summit Friday night at Central High School to help community members learn how to protect children from online exploitation. Experts explained the risks and urged attendees to sign an ACT Pact to support digital safety.  14 News

  • Evansville Fire Department is previewing a purpose-built ambulance unit at FDIC International as it prepares to assume city EMS on July 1. Officials say every design detail was crafted to support crew needs for quality care.  14 News
  • Indiana DNR now offers free state park annual passes to foster families (form required) to enjoy the state's parks (open statewide) when the form is submitted via email. Eligible families gain the opportunity to explore parks and create lasting memories this season.  14 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The 14 News Special Report 'Lost Too Young' will air in three parts starting Tuesday at 6 p.m.—it will share a family's tragic loss, expert insights on warning signs, and a focus on suicide prevention through the week.  14 News
  • Evansville is one of the sites hosting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where residents can drop off unused or expired prescription drugs for free to help prevent addiction and overdose deaths.  14 News

  • D’Angelo Ponds was drafted in the second round by the New York Jets, reuniting him with IU teammate Omar Cooper Jr. after a championship season where he showcased state-of-the-art speed and recorded 11 pass breakups.  Courier & Press
