- ➤ Evansville Goodwill will host the Breaking Barriers Resource & Job Fair at The Helms Hall on May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield to offer job interviews, resume help, and education to boost careers. 14 News
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced free annual passes for foster families to explore state parks today; interested families must fill out a form online or email their application to the department. Courier & Press

- ➤ Ballet Indiana will perform Cinderella at the historic Victory Theatre on Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m., featuring local dancers and guest artists under the direction of Kerri Lambert — the production celebrates more than 15 years of community performance opportunities. 14 News

- ➤ USI launched microcredential programs that offer flexible, short-term learning options—designed to boost career skills—and provide academic credit. Undergraduate and graduate credentials start in May, June, August, and October and can stack into certificates or degrees. 44 News
- ➤ During Ivy Tech Day on April 21, Ivy Tech Evansville raised $34,850 from nearly 200 donations by alumni, employees, and partners. The funds will support campus needs and workforce development programs as part of a statewide effort that raised over $614,000. Courier & Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ EPA began cleanup of hazardous waste on Monday at the former Morton Ave. Warehouse at 119 North Morton Avenue in Evansville. The agency will identify and consolidate hazardous substances, conduct air monitoring + wet debris to control contaminants, and complete the 120-day operation. 14 News
- ➤ Monday night, the NWS warned the Evansville area of severe weather with strong tornadoes, damaging wind, and hail as large as 2 inches (with storms passing between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.). Another system will move through Tuesday afternoon, bringing isolated flash flooding risks to southwestern Indiana. Courier & Press

- ➤ Deaconess Health System announced plans Monday for a $150M Cinelli Cancer Center on the Gateway campus set to open in 2028. The new facility (180,195 sqft) will offer advanced oncology care with 57 exam rooms, 4 treatment rooms, and 1 operating room. 44 News

Annual Memorial Day Service
Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
