COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After local law enforcement confirmed ICE raids, community members from Evansville Resistance and Evansville Indivisible gathered at the Winfield K. Denton Federal Building in downtown Evansville on Tuesday—organizing swiftly in the pouring rain to protest ICE actions and share concerns over safety and constitutional rights.  14 News
  • Isaiah 1:17 Project is asking families with foster care children and other at-risk youth in Daviess, Warrick, Vanderburgh, Knox, Pike, Posey, Gibson and Spencer counties to apply for its DreamCycles program, which gives a bicycle and safety gear to boost health and mobility—bikes are available only for children placed with fostering and kinship care families. Applications must be submitted electronically by Tuesday, May 6 at 4 p.m. and Toyota Indiana volunteers will assemble 100 bikes on May 10.  44 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Samuel Huggler, a 28-year-old from Southern Indiana, was extradited from Spain and booked into the county jail Monday for allegedly hiring a man to kill his 18-year-old sister in a 2021 murder-for-hire plot + he faces charges of murder, attempted murder and other offenses.  Courier & Press
  • A suspect in an Evansville murder-for-hire case, Samuel Huggler, was booked Monday in Vanderburgh County Jail after fleeing abroad and now faces charges of murder and attempted murder following a 2021 shooting on Kirkwood Drive that resulted in the death of 18-year-old Olivia Huggler.  44 News
  • 24-year-old Jonathan Fiscus was booked into Gibson County Jail for murdering his father, Brad Fiscus—he admitted to killing him during a court interview and to stealing the car he drove off in, and he is held without bond.  14 News
  • Michael Thomas’ murder trial resumed Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.—jury selection was completed and the prosecution began its case on Monday.  44 News
