COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is asking locals to welcome 86 veterans returning from Washington, D.C. as their plane arrives at 8 p.m. Saturday. A parade is set to begin by 8:30 p.m. plus buses from Anchor Industries will start transporting guests at 6:30 p.m., and parking is reserved for veterans, guardians, and airport customers only.  Courier & Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A man named Jaevon Hamilton was arrested on multiple charges—assaulting a woman and attempting to grab an officer's gun—after officers responded at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday near Garvin Street and Madison Avenue following a forced home entry on Oakley Street.  44 News
  • Evansville Police arrested 30-year-old Jarrod B. Roberts after witnesses reported he was flashing and touching himself in a bank on Main Street Tuesday evening while high on meth, and officers said he continued his exposure after detention.  14 News
  • A man — identified as 27-year-old Jaevon Hamilton — was arrested on the 600 block of Madison Avenue after he broke down a door, hit a victim, and tried to grab an officer’s gun.  14 News
  • Samuel Huggler, extradited from Spain and charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of an altered firearm, appeared Tuesday in Vanderburgh County court where he was given two weeks to hire counsel—he is now held in jail.  WEHT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT said crews will close Tekoppel Avenue underneath the Lloyd Expressway today to install new bridge beams for the westbound improvements on Evansville’s west side — motorists should plan ahead for temporary stoppages when trucks move the beams into place.  WEHT

SPORTS NEWS

  • The GLVC signed a three-year deal to hold the Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships at Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville in 2026, 2027, and 2028—an agreement supported by Mayor Stephanie Terry and hosted by the Evansville Regional Sports Commission. The 2026 championships are set for February 9-14 while the 2027 and 2028 events will take place on the second weekend in February.  Courier & Press
