- ➤ On Thursday, 86 veterans, guardians and volunteers met to connect ahead of their Saturday departure from Evansville Regional Airport to Washington, D.C. The 20th Honor Flight of Southern Indiana will end with a welcome home celebration for families in EVV. 44 News
- ➤ The Evansville YWCA honored Indiana State Senator Vaneta Becker at its 35th annual tribute to achievement, celebrating her decades of leadership that uplift vulnerable women and children. The event featured a Sweet Soiree cake tasting and a Grant a YWish paddle raise for vital programs. 14 News
- ➤ Holiday World will open for passholders this weekend — on Saturday, May 9, the park welcomes all passholders and Splashin’ Safari will open to the public on Saturday, May 16. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville Otters and Evansville Latino Center hosted a community service day at Stockwell Park Thursday — players helped plant flower beds and engaged with members of Los Lobos, the city’s first Latino youth baseball team. 14 News

- ➤ Ivy Tech Community College will host its annual Entrepreneurship Expo this Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Koch Student Center, where students will showcase startup ventures and learn real-world business skills. 14 News
- ➤ The University of Southern Indiana was certified as a StormReady university by the National Weather Service Thursday, proving its commitment to campus safety with a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville Regional Economic Partnership hosted its first Regional Civics Bee at the Shanklin Theatre on UE campus where 6th, 7th and 8th graders answered civics questions. The top three finishers will move on to the State Finals this summer before competing nationally in the fall. 14 News

- ➤ State Road 165 near Poseyville will close for about two weeks starting Monday, May 4 for a chip-and-seal maintenance project — drivers can use the designated detour via State Roads 68, 69, and 66. Courier & Press
- ➤ A ceremonial bill signing honoring Susan Haynie’s legacy will take place on Monday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Easterseals Early Learning Center (Crescent Room), as Governor Mike Braun and Representative Tim O’Brien join community members to mark the tribute. 44 News

Annual Memorial Day Service
Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
