- ➤ Leslie Robinson has installed a billboard in Evansville to honor her son, Jaryn, who died in a motorcycle crash in April 2024, and to raise motorcycle safety awareness during Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month—she put up the display after a roadside memorial was removed—and she urges drivers to look twice and ride safely. 44 News
- ➤ On May 1st at 12 p.m., local congregations joined an interfaith observance at the Four Freedoms Monument during National Day of Prayer — organizers said the ceremony featured prayers from groups including Bethlehem UCC, Methodist Temple, and Holy Name Church. 44 News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Indiana State Police said there was a crash on Hwy. 41 north near Inglefield Rd — just north of the airport in Vanderburgh County — on May 1 that closed a driving lane while no injuries were reported and drivers may face delays. 14 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies said a red pickup truck on westbound I-69 crossed the grass median into eastbound lanes around 6 p.m. before its driver, 38-year-old Christopher Anglin, lost control on Green River Road, crashed, and was arrested—deputies found meth in the truck and he showed signs of impairment, leading to charges for resisting law enforcement, possession of meth, reckless driving causing property damage, driving with a suspended license, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. 14 News
- ➤ A North High School teacher and coach, Noah Mikael McBride, 26, has been taken into custody on multiple counts of child seduction and related charges—he injured himself during a home search and is now receiving care at a local hospital while a $75,000 bond is set and he is barred from contact with the teen. - ➤ On Wednesday, a jury convicted 36 year old Michael Thomas of murdering 57 year old Patrick White, whose body was found after he went missing in July 2022, and his sentencing is scheduled for May 30 at 10 a.m. 14 News
- ➤ An Evansville woman, Jessica Guth, pleaded guilty to breaking into Whackerz—a golf simulation business in Wadesville—to steal a computer and golf clubs on January 9 and was sentenced to 42 months; she will serve her sentence at the Indiana Department of Correction. WEHT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Haynie's Corner Arts District Association and the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana unveiled a new mural titled Radiant Revival on the southeast facade of 58 Adams Avenue to celebrate ten years of First Fridays, with artist Cleo Griffin (a former Haynie's Corner resident) credited for the work. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on May 1 (1:30 to 2:00 p.m.) as the project begins a public art initiative funded by the Arts District Association and a city grant. 44 News

- ➤ People in Evansville met Tuesday at the Downtown federal courthouse to protest ICE raids and removal actions, and a clip from the protest was shown on The Rachel Maddow Show—despite the show mistakenly putting Evansville in Illinois.
