- ➤ Downtown Evansville is hosting its seventh annual Sidewalk Sale this weekend—featuring over 150 local makers and vendors on Main Street from 1st to 6th Streets—and downtown stores, restaurants and food trucks will offer special deals from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. 14 News

- ➤ Bobby Michael Handegard (29) was arrested in March and will face trial on June 23 after he was accused of killing DJ Shane Breedlove on Evansville’s east side in July 2015. 14 News
- ➤ On Tuesday, May 6, 33-year-old William Virgil Russell II, a registered sex offender, was sentenced to 12 years in prison—he pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse imagery and using Instagram to prey on minors. Courier & Press
- ➤ A North High School teacher, Noah Mikael McBride (26 from Newburgh), was booked into the Vanderburgh County jail Monday after he was released from the hospital following injuries from an April 28 search warrant, and he faces 15 counts including child seduction involving a student with a $75,000 bond. - ➤ At a Tuesday news conference, Mayor Stephanie Terry and Fire Department Chief Tony Knight announced that the city will end its contract with AMR and have the fire department take over ambulance services by July 1, 2026. The transition will use about $7 million from the casino capital improvement fund to hire staff and buy new ambulances — a move aimed at faster response times and lower costs. Courier & Press
- ➤ The City of Evansville and Evansville Fire Department held a news conference Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from the EFD administration building in Downtown Evansville. 14 News

- ➤ The University of Evansville men's basketball team will play Purdue on Nov. 4 at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, marking their first meeting in 20 years. Purdue announced the non-conference schedule on Tuesday, and the series record stands at 9—5 in the Boilermakers' favor. Courier & Press
