- ➤ The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, and Prosecutor’s Office plan to support Special Olympics Indiana with a fundraiser on May 16 at Dunkin’ Donuts in Evansville. Officers will be stationed on the rooftop + in the parking lot to raise awareness and collect donations for the athletes. 14 News

- ➤ Evansville Police arrested 20-year-old Jayden Higgins on Wednesday—charging him with Level 3 Felony rape after a victim said they met on a dating app, talked for days, and then met in person when Higgins ignored repeated refusals and raped them, prompting a sexual assault exam at a local hospital. 44 News
- ➤ A former Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office employee, Regene Newman, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and will be sentenced on July 31 in federal court—officials say she misused nearly $90,000 on personal expenses such as coffee and shopping. WEHT

- ➤ The University of Evansville has opened a new STEM hub that offers free programs for all ages and will host a Science of Reading conference on June 11 and a STEM training session on June 26. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation said crews will reinstall traffic signals at the intersection of State Road 66 and Grimm Road in Newburgh on or around May 21. The new signal will flash yellow for three days on State Road 66 with a red flash on Grimm Road—this change follows months after a temporary signal was removed during construction. WEHT
