- ➤ Three Mexican nationals were arrested in Indiana for illegally returning after deportation during an immigration operation from April 29 to May 1, with Amin Reynosa-Diaz detained in Evansville while two others were arrested in Bloomington; each faces between two and ten years in prison if convicted. - ➤ A dog was dumped near Salvage Candy when surveillance video showed a black SUV throwing the animal from the passenger-side window+ the business owner said Animal Control is working to recover it amid ongoing dumping incidents. 44 News
- ➤ 16-year-old Isam Clark—charged with the murder of Dalton Collins after a suspected drug deal gone wrong—is set to attend a pre-trial discovery conference Thursday morning and will face trial beginning May 27. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville Police stopped a driver for speeding in a work zone on the Lloyd Expressway on Wednesday—officers then used a K9 alert which led them to arrest 33-year-old Jakary Brown after finding marijuana and cash in his vehicle. 44 News

- ➤ Bishop Joseph Siegel said he felt a deep excitement when white smoke signaled that Pope Leo XIV, the first American elected as pope, was chosen, and he recalled meeting him a decade ago during his time in Peru. A Mass will be held today at Evansville Cathedral—uniting local Catholics in prayer for the new pope's ministry. 14 News

- ➤ The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility paused repairs on the sinkhole at Riverside Drive after the Ohio River reached about 30 feet this spring. The work will resume when the river falls roughly seven feet—likely in mid-month—while traffic lanes remain affected. WEHT
