COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tri-State Food Bank will host six mobile food distribution events in May, offering boxes of shelf-stable groceries at set times in Evansville and nearby towns. No ID is required — participants need only provide their zip code and household size.  Courier & Press
  • Evansville police and sheriff's deputies will join community members at the Dunkin' on 850 N. Green River Road on Friday, May 15 to raise money for Special Olympics Indiana. Donations of $10 or more earn a coupon for free medium hot coffee.  Courier & Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Evansville Museum presents 500 Miles to Go, a final bucket list exhibit from retiring curator Tom Lonnberg that displays a 1953 Kuzma race car (transported by professionals) and historic Indy 500 memorabilia. The exhibit runs through August at the downtown museum.  14 News
  • Music Director Roger Kalia will lead the Evansville Philharmonic through May 2029 after his contract was extended, officials said. His initiatives include the New Traditions Series and programs with local partners (including the Young Artist Composition Competition) that have brought fresh energy to the orchestra.  Courier & Press

  • The University of Evansville Theatre Society honored students at its awards dinner on Thursday, April 30 at the Log Inn, recognizing six awards for design, stage management and performance.   • North high school baseball team defeated Gibson Southern 2-0 in a recent contest at a local field. The result gives North a key win as both teams move forward in the season.  Courier & Press
  • Evansville Thunderbolts won the President’s Cup Championship on Saturday after rallying from a 2-0 deficit to clinch Game 5 by a 6-4 score — fans in Evansville and Peoria celebrated the win.  14 News

    Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
