- ➤ Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana teamed up with Old National Bank’s Military Veteran Impact Network to host a donation drive for veterans in need. Community members can drop off new, unused donations at 11 local bank branches through the end of May. 14 News
- ➤ Women participated Monday at the Country Club in Evansville for the 32nd Deaconess Classic (Red, White and Birdies) to raise funds for mammograms and ultrasound screenings in the Tri-State. Corey Weworski, an accomplished amateur golfer, joined the tournament. 14 News
- ➤ CenterPoint Energy is launching a new Customer Connect pilot program at its Energy Plaza to offer in-person payment & account support each Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the next session scheduled for Wednesday, May 13. 44 News
- ➤ The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library launches its 8-part Riverfront Reads series today on the Ohio riverfront at The Pagoda from 6 to 7 p.m. Local partners La Plaza Food Truck, Snax Attack, Wesselman Woods and Mesker Park Zoo add extra family fun — free to all. 14 News

- ➤ Deputy Quentin Wagner fell from a tree stand and broke several vertebrae; his family is seeking public help through a GoFundMe campaign to cover his medical bills and recovery costs. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ IU School of Medicine-Evansville received formal accreditation for its new psychiatry residency program in partnership with Deaconess Hospital to address the local shortage of mental health professionals. The program will welcome its first residents in July 2027 (supporting long-term care for neighbors). Courier & Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City Council adopted a master plan to create regional trails linking Evansville with nearby towns (Boonville, Haubstadt, Poseyville, Mt. Vernon, and Henderson) without using taxpayer dollars. The plan, completed last spring, will boost local options for safe running, biking, and walking. 14 News
- ➤ Governor Braun signed the Susan Haynie bill in Evansville yesterday and said data centers could boost local economies if they pay for their energy needs without tax abatements. He also cleared up water use concerns, noting that recycling methods lessen environmental impact — a promising payoff for local budgets. 14 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Zayne, an Evansville boy who survived double pneumonia with intensive treatment (including chest tubes and life support), served as Honorary Ball Kid for the Indiana Fever on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. He now gains strength with doctor visits and therapy while returning to playing sports. 14 News

Annual Memorial Day Service
Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
