ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A car crashed through the wall of Vann Park Apartments off Vann Avenue on Monday morning, injuring one resident (non-life-threatening) as police taped off the area and continued investigating.  44 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Evansville police arrested 40-year-old Frankie Pollard, Jr.—a known suspect with a meth dealing conviction—on Sunday morning after he fled a stop near Washington Avenue and South Parker Drive and left the scene of a hit-and-run crash on South Spring Street where officers found a stolen gun, a safe with several baggies of marijuana, and an SUV that smelled of marijuana.  14 News
  • The sheriff’s office arrested Taron Coats early Sunday morning after a street racing crash on Riverside Drive in October and booked him on charges of criminal recklessness, aggressive driving, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated+ police said Raveion Quarles, Lorenzo McRath and James Ramos were also involved.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Darla Hoover has been named the new superintendent of Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation — she is the first female in the role and a first-generation college graduate from the University of Southern Indiana and Evansville schools. She will take over on July 1 and plans to work closely with teachers and the community to help every student succeed.  44 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Evansville officials said that water crews switched to a new disinfectant yesterday and will run the process until June 30 to ensure safe drinking water. Customers may notice a slight change in the smell and taste of tap water—officials stress that this is normal and not dangerous.  14 News
  • The Indiana State Police in Evansville will hold their annual memorial service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the post on Highway 41 North to honor 49 officers who died in the line of duty — the ceremony is intended to pay tribute to their sacrifice.  44 News

  • The Indiana Fever, who began their season with a win, will face the Atlanta Dream today at 6 p.m. on channel 14.2 for antenna users and on MeTV for cable subscribers — providers include Astound and Spectrum.  14 News
