COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The City of Evansville Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with EVSC and Feed Evansville to provide free, nutritious lunches for kids at Mosby, Lorraine, and Rochelle-Landers pools every day this summer — lunches are served in front of the pool at Mosby and Lorraine, and at Lincoln School during weekdays for Rochelle-Landers before moving to the pool on weekends. Although Mosby Pool will open around June 7 due to a repair delay, lunches will be available there — and the city is also asking for swimsuit donations on June 6 at Walmart East and for lifeguard applications online. 44 News

- ➤ The Evansville Police Department warned residents about Bitcoin ATM scams where scammers use phone calls or online messages to pressure victims into sending funds for fake warrants or account restorations—over 40 cases in the past two years have led to more than $500,000 in losses, including five in the past week. 44 News

- ➤ Dubois County has cancelled Festival Latino 2025 after reports of unlawful detainment raised fears of immigration enforcement—officials said the event had drawn thousands to celebrate Latin American culture for over a decade and that smaller cultural events will be held later this year. 14 News

- ➤ University of Southern Indiana named Dr. Abeer Mustafa as its new Vice President for Student Affairs and she will begin on June 23. She served as Senior Advisor to the Chancellor at the University of Tennessee Southern and her background in enrollment management and student affairs is expected to guide the campus community. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a ribbon cutting for the U.S. 41 and Washington Ave. pedestrian bridge on May 28 at 10 a.m.—officials say the event will take place on the west side of the completed bridge. 14 News
- ➤ INDOT crews will cut the ribbon on the new pedestrian bridge on U.S. 41, Washington Avenue on May 28 at 10 a.m.—the bridge opened late last year after construction began in September 2023. WEHT
- ➤ Crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation will close the west approach on U.S. 41 from Virginia Street beginning Thursday, May 29 for pavement and sidewalk reconstruction—expected to last one month if weather permits. The work is part of a larger project to rebuild U.S. 41 in Evansville. 14 News
