COMMUNITY NEWS

  • ARC of Southwest Indiana hosted its 12th annual golf benefit at Cambridge Golf Course last Friday — raising money for disability programs and supporting over 100,000 families statewide while businesses joined a Fun on Wheels sponsorship.  14 News
  • It Takes a Village is hosting its annual yard sale to support rescue animals with donations going toward care and a new building. The event runs today and tomorrow from 8-2 at 5115 Oak Grove Road and offers chili dogs plus food truck floats.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historic WWII planes (B-29 DOC and P-51 Gunfighter) will visit Evansville Wartime Museum and Regional Airport from July 30 to August 2, offering public ramp access and cockpit tours on select days. Tickets will cost $20 for adults and $10 for children as the event celebrates the city’s wartime manufacturing legacy.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North High School principal John Skinner retired after handing out diplomas in his final ceremony last Friday, ending a 33-year career with EVSC and graduating over 6,500 students. He also served as teacher and assistant coach and called the day life-changing for the students.  14 News
  • OCU staff have not been paid for a month and are missing a second paycheck + school officials plan layoffs and have suspended undergraduate programs, leaving many students to seek new options. A strategic partnership is in place to keep operations running.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Tuesday, May 26, drivers will face closures on Red Bank Road south of the Lloyd and University Parkway's eastbound ramps, with detours posted and brief stoppages at Burkhardt Road + Cross Pointe Boulevard occurring until May 29, weather permitting.  14 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Goodin Development is planning a mixed-use project called The Republic on Vogel Road to honor the city's World War II legacy — the four-story structure will offer over 100 residential units and commercial space plus a rooftop patio, pet spa, fitness center and pool.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • North edged Castle by 1.5 points to win the Central sectional at IHSAA boys track on May 21. With a record 3:20.09 in the 4x400 relay, the Huskies celebrated their fourth win in five years and now prepare for regionals on May 28.  Courier & Press
  • After Friday’s series opener was postponed by inclement weather, the Evansville Otters + Windy City ThunderBolts will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 5:05 p.m. The Era’s Night promotion moves to Sunday, July 12 while tickets from the postponed game can be used at future home games.  44 News

    Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
