- ➤ On Friday, June 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., downtown Evansville will host an International Market — a celebration of authentic cuisine, local vendors, and live cultural performances along the 900 Block of Main Street. 14 News
- ➤ Indiana residents can fish without a license on public waters on June 6–7 and Sept. 26; all fishing regulations remain in effect (bag and size limits apply) as license sales support conservation projects. Courier & Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Evansville renamed its Center for the Advancement of Learning to Center for Professional and Continuing Education after a board vote on May 25, making the change effective immediately; its programs for adult degree completion and professional development remain unchanged. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Evansville/Vanderburgh County EMA advised boaters to exercise caution this Memorial Day weekend as rising Ohio River levels and increased driftwood create hazards. Boaters should plan ahead and equip safety gear before venturing out. 14 News
- ➤ State Road 68 near Lynnville will close for a structure replacement project starting tomorrow, May 26, between Cherry Street and Spurgeon Road until early August due to weather conditions; motorists should follow the detour via State Road 61 + Interstate 64 + State Road 161 and drive in work zones. - ➤ Local voters can cast ballots for the Courier & Press Athlete of the Week for May 18-23 from standout high school athletes in baseball, track, softball and tennis, with votes open until 10 a.m. CT Friday. Courier & Press
- ➤ Mater Dei defeated Gibson Southern 3-1 in a high school baseball game at Oakland City University today, marking an important win in their season. Courier & Press
- ➤ IHSAA softball sectionals begin in Evansville this week, with games scheduled today and on May 26, 27, 28, and 29 at several local venues. Divisions 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A matchups will decide which teams advance in the state tournament. Courier & Press

Annual Memorial Day Service
Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery (1800 St. George Road, Evansville) will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. The service, which is open to everyone, will be conducted by Charles Denby VFW Post #2953, who will lead the ceremony and read aloud the names of every veteran interred at Sunset over the past year.
