  • Families gathered at Burdette Park on Sunday morning during Memorial Day weekend even though overcast skies prevailed—enjoying the pool and games while making memories before the busy summer season begins. Grandfather John Maerkl and his granddaughter also played pickleball, showing that the holiday brought a chance to relax and connect.  14 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Evansville Police are investigating an accident on the 600 block of South Evans Avenue near Bellemeade where one person sustained heavy injuries and was taken to the hospital while another driver was taken for blood tests — officials are still working to gather more details.  14 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Evansville Police arrested Devin Truitt after a car crash near the CVS at the corner of Covert Avenue — Boeke Road around 10 p.m. Saturday night; his blood alcohol level tested at .416 and he now faces three drunk driving charges.  14 News
  • Evansville police charged Angel Lopez with Drunk Driving and Leaving the Scene of a Crash after he hit a parked BMW on May 24 and left nine open containers with beer and whiskey in his car — the vehicle owner said she would press charges.  44 News
  • Evansville police arrested 25-year-old Trevor Foster on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene after he hit another car and crashed into a wall of pallets at 10:30 p.m. Friday near the corner of Burkhardt Road and Virginia Street; a passenger in the other car was taken to hospital for back pain and leg numbness.  14 News
  • Evansville Police say they are investigating copper wire theft from a CenterPoint Energy facility on Stringtown Road after security officers found a cut fence and missing wire (the holes were not there the day before) Saturday morning.  14 News
  • Evansville Police said they are looking for a suspect involved in a hit and run crash that sent a 71-year-old to the hospital with a chest injury Friday around 4:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Washington Avenue — officers later found the suspect’s car after the driver fled.  14 News
  • Evansville Police arrested 26 year old Angel Lopez after he hit a parked car near Washington Avenue and then drove onto Evans Avenue before crashing again; officers found at least nine open drink containers in his car—he is charged with Drunk Driving and Leaving the Scene of a Crash.  14 News
