COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Construction is underway on the largest splash pad in Indiana on Evansville’s north side at the former Lloyd pool at Igleheart Park, funded by a $24 million parks bond. The splash pad will include separate toddler and kid zones and a year-round restroom facility and will open Labor Day weekend. 14 News
- ➤ The Hadi Shrinersfest will kick off Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on Riverside Drive with rides, live music & food trucks. The event includes a car show at 10 a.m. and a bike show at 6 p.m., with half pot tickets available for the drawing and the winner announced Monday. 14 News
- ➤ Young & Established will expand its free summer meal program for kids by serving meals Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at the community center on Vann Avenue starting Monday, June 1; they will also deliver meals to parks and neighborhoods with locations posted in advance. 44 News

- ➤ High school seniors celebrated the Class of 2026 on Friday, May 29 at 12 Evansville-area ceremonies, including events at Academy of Innovative Studies and North High. Photo galleries capture graduates crossing the stage at each local event + signal the close of the school year. Courier & Press
- ➤ The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is launching Our Summer: 250 Years of History with games, music, crafts, and treats this Sunday, May 31 at EVPL Central from 1 to 4 p.m. Attendees can register for the summer reading program and hear Mayor Stephanie Terry at 1:10 p.m. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traffic was affected yesterday as crews from the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility repaired a water main at the intersection of Northwest 2nd Street and Fulton Avenue — eastbound drivers were detoured while work was completed in one day. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville Police Department reintroduces Walking Wednesdays—a summer program to connect officers and residents—launching on June 3 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. near Rochelle-Landers Pool, with weekly walks planned throughout June and July. 44 News
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Developers with local roots have started a 130 million dollar project called Old Farm Reserve on University Parkway north of USI, planning residences and retail spaces. The plan includes 163 homes, a 240-unit complex, a hotel + shops, with residential lots done by year-end and apartments by late summer. 14 News
- ➤ The Old Vanderburgh County Jail building, built in 1890, is now listed for sale on NW 4th St. in Evansville — the historic property offers a unique opportunity for commercial or office use and potential redevelopment. 44 News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Castle softball secured a three-peat by defeating Reitz 7-0 in the Class 4A sectional championship on Thursday at North High School, with dominant pitching and a key third inning rally that powered the offense. The Knights now add to their record 18 sectional titles since 1993. Courier & Press
- ➤ Ford Center officials announced the first Professional Bull Riders Challenger Series event of the year will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. The rodeo will feature indoor fireworks, mini bull riding, trick riding, freestyle motocross and closing act Drew Balridge (known for hit songs She's Somebody's Daughter and Tough People). 14 News
