- ➤ On June 7, a three-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in an Evansville apartment on Florence Street and died, and his father, Jovontae K. Carter, is charged with neglect of a dependent causing death, unlawful carrying of a handgun by a felon, and possession of marijuana—police said the boy found the gun hidden under a couch cushion and Carter admitted it was his—while the investigation continues. 44 News

- ➤ Cancer Pathways hosted its annual Tri-State Cancer Survivor Day in Evansville, where survivors, their families, and caregivers enjoyed games, food, and a live performance from a fellow survivor—helping them take a break from treatments. Organizers said they plan to make the event bigger each year—bringing more local support to those affected by cancer. WEHT
- ➤ About 1.7 million dozen brown cage-free and certified organic eggs sold at Walmart and other stores in nine states were recalled on June 6 due to a salmonella outbreak that led to 79 hospitalizations—consumers should discard or return eggs with plant code numbers P-6562 or CA5330 and printed Julian dates from 32 to 126 and clean any surfaces that came in contact with them.
