CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Evansville police confirmed that during a Taylor Avenue shooting on Sunday morning, 19-year-old Israel Mays died after being shot at a party — and authorities later arrested 21-year-old Alexis Wilhite for hitting a pedestrian with her vehicle while fleeing the scene. WEHT
- ➤ Arrest warrants were issued for two Evansville Police supervisors after an investigation found that Sgt. William Shirley and Lt. Stacy Shirley allegedly collected off-duty pay by falsifying work hours at Evansville Housing Authority & Dillard’s, and they have been placed on unpaid leave pending further review. 14 News

- ➤ Juneteenth falls on Thursday and Evansville hosts events honoring the end of slavery in the United States through Saturday. Events include a Design Your Own Kente Cloth event Tuesday at EVPL Stringtown from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—a celebration at Y&E Community Center Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., an Otters game at 7:30 p.m., a craft session Friday, and free entry at Angel Mounds with a celebration at Lyles Station on Saturday. - ➤ A brief EF-0 tornado touched down on Evansville's west side on Friday—marking the fourth tornado to hit Vanderburgh County this year. It traveled just over a mile starting at South Tekoppel Avenue, uprooted trees near Edgewood and Hillcrest, and knocked down a construction barricade near Indiana Street and 11th Avenue while heavy rain caused flash flooding that blocked roads and led to several rescues with winds reaching 85 mph. 44 News

- ➤ Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials say a four-mile section of KY-136 from KY-56 in Beech Grove to KY-140 East will be limited to local traffic for up to one month—starting Monday—for cross drain repairs between Calhoun and Beech Grove. 14 News
