- ➤ Evansville woman Jessica South was arrested on animal cruelty charges after she allegedly punched a 9-week-old puppy in the head because it urinated on the floor + the animal now shows signs of brain trauma, police said. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville man Christopher Bass was arrested Thursday on charges of child molesting multiple juveniles—he later admitted the allegations after first denying them and is now held at Vanderburgh County Jail. WEHT
- ➤ In Evansville, 43-year-old Anthony Kanizar pleaded guilty to battery resulting in serious bodily injury after stabbing a man last November on Michigan Street and Baker Avenue—he was sentenced to four years in prison with just over six months of jail credit. 14 News

- ➤ Today, the University of Evansville launched the Heroes Among Us app — developed by the Sensory Inclusion Charity Corporation — to help students learn about invisible disabilities; the beta version is open for testing with plans to expand the program to more schools. WEHT

- ➤ Evansville officials announced that downtown’s new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area — known as DORA — will launch on Friday, July 4 to let residents 21 and older buy alcoholic beverages at approved locations using a designated cup. The area will offer extended hours during June and July, operating daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with weekday hours from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville officials announced that downtown's new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area—where adults can buy and drink alcohol with an approved cup—will launch on Friday, July 4th. The effort led by the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District will operate year-round with summer hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during June and July and adjusted hours on weeknights and weekends. 44 News
- ➤ Gov. Braun signed 10 bills into law on June 19th at a ceremonial event, saying Indiana led the nation in health care reform. The new laws lower prices, increase transparency for treatment costs and expand patient rights + change hospital reporting rules. WEHT
