  • Today, Evansville firefighters responded to a house fire in the 400 block of South Morton Avenue at about 2:30 a.m.—flames from the attic took nearly 30 minutes to control, melted the siding of a neighboring home, and led to temporary housing assistance from the Red Cross as investigators probe the cause.  WEHT

  • Evansville police arrested three men after they reportedly jumped and attacked a person leaving the Dust Bowl; a drone & K9 unit recovered a black handgun & a witness confirmed the incident.  WEHT
  • Evansville police arrested two people today for armed robbery after a man reported a hold-up in progress at the intersection of Vann Avenue and Conlin Avenue, saying his roommates fought over money with one holding a knife to his throat and the other kicking him before taking his phone and wallet.  14 News
  • Evansville Police say a Good Samaritan stopped a white pickup on Saturday after 911 calls reported the vehicle swerving near Covert Avenue—police found the driver had a BAC of .40 and he was taken to a local hospital for care.  WEHT

  • Evansville schools will hold a retirement event for Superintendent David Smith on June 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the Old National Bank Atrium after his final day, and a reception to welcome new Superintendent Darla Hoover—the first woman in the role—is planned for July 17 at 10 a.m. at City View at Sterling Square.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Transportation officials announced that eastbound Lloyd Expressway in Evansville will operate with two lanes today between Green River Road and I-69. The lane closures—designed for constructing dual displaced left turns near Burkhardt Road and Cross Pointe Boulevard—will remain in effect for the next four months.  WEHT
