- ➤ 36-year-old James Charleston Jr. pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a prohibited person after officers detained him on Garvin Street on August 3rd when he was reported waving a silver 9mm pistol in the air — he was sentenced to five years in federal prison with an additional three years of supervised release. 14 News

- ➤ The Spencer County Music Fest will be held July 18 and 19 at Grandview Park at 2nd and Walnut Street. Organizers say the two-day event will feature food vendors, beer and wine slushies and a plaque presentation honoring Bobby Clark and John Mellencamp for their song 'Grandview' along with the Nashville Talent Search Finals offering a stage slot, $500 cash prize and a performance opportunity in Nashville. 14 News

- ➤ Officials at USI announced that the school has joined NCAA Division I after the NCAA Board confirmed its full membership on Monday. The Screaming Eagles will compete in 19 sports as part of the Ohio Valley Conference — becoming the 11th NCAA Division I program in Indiana — and begin postseason play in 2025-26. 14 News

- ➤ Orion Renewable Energy wants to build the Blue Grass Creek Solar Project—a 600 MW solar farm set on 1,000 acres near Interstate 69—and several residents worry the panels will change their view every morning; county commissioners have delayed final agreements to give Orion time to address community questions ahead of a meeting being held today at 6 p.m. at Venue 812. 14 News

Mike Braun overhauled the Indiana Economic Development Corp board on June 23 by appointing nine new members including former Indiana House Speaker John Gregg—he launched an audit and cut the agency’s budget by 25% amid calls for more transparency.
