- ➤ The Vanderburgh County Fire Department will hold a memorial service at noon on Friday, July 18 at the shelter house in Scott Township Park to honor K9 Siren—the firehouse Dalmatian rescued in 2023 who served the community for two years with outreach and fire prevention work. 14 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The International Jugglers’ Association is hosting its 78th annual festival from July 14 to July 20 at Old National Events Plaza with a one-hour benefit show at the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville’s Main Unit at 700 Bellemeade Avenue. Many former Boys & Girls Club members who now perform nationwide will entertain local children during the show. WEHT

- ➤ City officials in Evansville will begin accepting bids today for the green space at The Vault on Main, part of a mixed-use project replacing the Old National Bank building at 5th and Main—blending residential, retail and park areas. The project is expected to be complete next spring—marking the next step in the downtown redevelopment. WEHT
- ➤ Evansville Police have added two new dual-purpose K9 units — Abel with Officer Steve Brown and Jett with Officer Jaylan Hyneman — to patrol the community after a summer of intense training. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville Water and Sewer Utility officials said water service is off in parts of Western Vanderburgh County near University Parkway including Houge Road, Blessing Way, and nearby streets due to emergency water main repairs. Repairs are expected to take about two hours—when service is restored, a precautionary boil advisory will be issued. 14 News
- ➤ City Council President Ben Trockman wrote a letter to Congress urging them to keep the Community Development Block Grant Program because it provided $2.5 million for blight removal & affordable housing; he warned that cutting the program would harm progress & impact local non-profits. 14 News
- ➤ Indiana Governor Mike Braun visited Evansville on Monday with Secretary of State Diego Morales and met with Mayor Stephanie Terry to discuss local representation on state commissions like the IURC and IEDC—Morales said the officials also talked about initiatives to boost recognition of Evansville at state and international levels. - ➤ The Vanderburgh County Health Department will hold a free immunization clinic for uninsured children and those on Medicaid before school begins on Tuesday, July 29 at its headquarters on Mulberry Street. The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and requires parents to bring shot records and insurance details, plus pre-registering earns a $10 gift card and a chance for additional prizes. 14 News
