- ➤ Feed Evansville kicked off its three-day Christmas in July Food Drive on July 25 at C.K. Newsome Center when people dropped off non-perishable items from 6 to 8 p.m., and today donations are accepted at Hartke Pool from 10 a.m. to noon while the drive will end on July 27 at GD Ritzy's on Green River Road—supporting local food pantries and programs. 44 News
- ➤ Officials with Feed Evansville announced today their first Christmas in July event to highlight rising summer food insecurity, with plans for pool parties, three city-wide food drives, summer lunches and a bingo event to support local pantry programs + the campaign targets low donation rates common in the summer months. 14 News

- ➤ At 9:00 a.m. Friday, a crash on SR 57 north of Oakland City closed all lanes near the Pike County–Gibson County line as emergency crews and a helicopter responded—Gibson County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident. 44 News

- ➤ Vanderburgh County deputies and a U.S. Marshals task force arrested local contractor Eric N. Morgan of Rugged Construction after a homeowner accused him of pocketing over $150,000 on a botched home addition that began in February 2024—he faces multiple felony fraud and theft charges. - ➤ A jury in Evansville found Jaron Wells guilty of murdering his mother in 2023 after police were called by a man who discovered her body in an abandoned home on Harriet Street—he will be sentenced on Sept. 16. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville police arrested Bradley Gates, 36, after a fight on Thursday on Fountain Avenue when he hit a resident with a brick and threw a two-by-four that caused a car to crash+ he is held in Vanderburgh County Jail and faces charges of trespassing, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and battery with a $700 bond+. - ➤ Scott Terry Jr.—an Evansville man—was sentenced to 105 years in prison for the 2022 shooting of Candilyn Sexton on West Indiana Street after police located him near the Kentucky border and he accepted a plea agreement in May. WEHT

- ➤ VCA All Pet Emergency Center at 104 South Heidelbach Avenue in Evansville will operate under reduced hours due to a veterinarian shortage; today its weekend hours run from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and new weekday hours—Wednesday to Friday from 6 p.m. to Midnight—take effect on August 4th while pet owners should contact other centers for emergencies outside these times. 44 News
