- ➤ Republic Services announced that trash collection in Vanderburgh County will resume today at 4:30 a.m. and continue Thursday and Friday, while Monday and Tuesday routes will restart next week + recycling and heavy trash collections remain suspended. 14 News
- ➤ Keck-Gonnerman Antique Machinery and Car Show is returning to the Posey County Fairgrounds for its 35th annual event (August 1-3). The show will feature antique machinery and cars for families as cooler weather arrives. WEHT
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A head-on crash on Big Cynthiana Road near Estate Drive west of Darmstadt resulted in one SUV driver dying in the hospital and the other driver suffering severe injuries—officials said the intersection will reopen by 6:30 p.m. as the investigation continues. 14 News

- ➤ Evansville police responded to a report from South Kentucky Avenue on Monday and rescued two dogs from a truck with a 128+ degree temperature while arresting owner James Essary for animal cruelty+ charges, and the dogs are now recovering. 44 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hopkins County Central High School unveiled a new auxiliary gym that will serve as both a practice facility and a tornado shelter—designed to boost safety after past severe weather events. Governor Beshear spoke today as residents toured the facility to see the new protection in action. 14 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Vanderburgh County Commissioners approved that VenuWorks will take over management of Old National Events Plaza in downtown Evansville on September 1 and will operate the 280,000-square-foot venue and 2,500-seat Aiken Theatre. The county also agreed to a wind down agreement with ASM Global that will end its current management on December 31, 2027—an option exists to extend the contract through 2032. 44 News

- ➤ Evansville Recovery Alliance announced that 12 new Narcan boxes—purchased with a grant from the Substance Abuse Council of Evansville and Vanderburgh County—will soon be installed to provide 24/7 self-service access to life-saving Naloxone and double current locations. 14 News

- ➤ A new alcohol-free bar is opening in downtown Evansville on August 8 during the Night Market. The Altar Bar at Arcademie — located upstairs at 22 NW 6th Street — will serve spirit-free cocktails and non-alcoholic beer every Friday and Saturday night. 14 News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Evansville Thunderbolts released their full 2025-26 schedule, showing 29 home games at the Ford Center with the first on October 25 against Quad City Storm and most games starting at 7 p.m. Exceptions include the October 28 game at 10 a.m. for local students and three Sunday games at 3 p.m.—important matchups are set for October 31, December 31 and the final home game on April 4 against Pensacola Ice Flyers. 44 News
