- ➤ Evansville police arrested Ann Maasberg (51) on 24 counts of animal neglect after they found 16 dogs and eight puppies in poor condition at her home on East Blackford Avenue; some animals did not have enough food or water, and she said she visited three times a day after her move to Kentucky. 14 News
- ➤ An Evansville man was arrested on multiple charges after sideswiping a deputy’s patrol vehicle near East Columbia Street and North Morton Avenue just after 2 a.m.—he admitted to drinking before driving, did not have a license, and posted a blood alcohol concentration of 0.205. WEHT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mater Dei High School freshmen started classes on Monday, giving them a chance to see the school layout before all students return on Wednesday. School officials said parents and students should check the school calendar for any updates. 14 News
- ➤ Many Tri-State students returned to class this week as EVSC students with last names K through Z began classes on Monday, and local reporter Leslie Chapman was live at 6 a.m. outside the EVSC bus lot. 14 News

- ➤ Today, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office increased patrols in school zones and along bus routes to improve safety as students returned to school. The department is targeting stop-arm violations, speeding, and reckless driving—funded by a federal grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. 44 News
