ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Evansville fire crews battled a blaze at Tri-State Food Bank on East Michigan Street after a call came in at 4:55 p.m.—engines remain on scene as they work to extinguish the fire.  44 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Henderson man Gregory Durbin, 49, is charged with drunk driving after officers pulled him over on Covert Avenue when they found he drove on Green River Road without headlights and his breathalyzer registered a BAC of .186 — more than twice the legal limit.  14 News
  • Thomas Rainey Jr. filed a federal lawsuit against Boonville city and its police department, saying his 2023 arrest was an unlawful effort to force a confession about his missing mother, Donna Hatfield's case; the claim is backed by a notarized power of attorney (showing his legal right to handle her property). The suit accuses officers of violating his rights and has not yet prompted a response from the defendants.  Courier & Press
  • On Saturday, Evansville Police responded to reports from the 300 block of Sweetser Avenue when witnesses heard several shots being fired and saw people running, and officers later found multiple cars and a home hit by bullets — shell casings were recovered at the scene.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Red Bank Road north of the Lloyd Expressway will close tomorrow until August 26 as crews work on plans for a displaced left turn in 2026 — crews will work overnight to shorten the closure time. Boehne Camp Road reopened Saturday ahead of schedule.  14 News
  • The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that Main Street in Troy will be closed for a week starting on Friday for a pavement replacement project at the State Road 66 intersection; drivers will use a detour following State Road 66—State Road 70—State Road 245—State Road 162—State Road 62.  14 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Target sold sugar cookies made by Give and Go Prepared Foods were recalled by the FDA after tests found they might contain wood + 803 cases sold across 20 states, including Indiana, have been removed from shelves.  Courier & Press
