- ➤ Evansville Police warned SNAP users to inspect card readers for signs of tampering as scammers use card skimming and cloning—advising those with tap-enabled cards to use that feature and lock their accounts immediately since stolen benefits cannot be replaced. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville residents are warned of a food stamp fraud scheme—card skimmers are installed on grocery store payment terminals to steal funds as soon as money is loaded onto the card, and police advise residents to check readers and lock their cards to protect benefits. 44 News

- ➤ Frog Follies will celebrate its 50th year Aug. 22-24 at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Grounds as car enthusiasts gather to view pre-1949 street rods. The event costs $10 per person with children under 12 free and will include special anniversary activities—like appearances by stars of Motor Trend’s Iron Resurrection and a live T-Bucket build by Bob Chester. - ➤ Gov. Mike Braun has chosen Indiana Education Secretary Katie Jenner to lead the state’s K-12 Department and the Higher Ed commission if the board confirms her vote on August 22. - ➤ Evansville first responders maintain fast emergency response times despite road construction closures by receiving a two‑week notice from planners and updating the CAD system—marking the closures on the CAP map to guide police and fire units. 44 News
- ➤ City crews have patched over 12,000 potholes so far this summer using about 300 tons of patching material (averaging 2 to 3 tons daily). They are now repairing roughly 150 potholes each day on the west side (a key focus area). 44 News
- ➤ Evansville City Council will consider a proposal on Monday to restructure Animal Care and Control by creating a new executive-level director that reports directly to the mayor—this change will separate the agency from the Transportation & Services department and give it more authority for budgeting and community relations.
