- ➤ Newburgh Police will host a Cram the Cruiser event—supporting the Warrick Humane Society—on September 3rd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Newburgh Walmart, where officers will collect pet food, cleaning supplies, treats and other essentials for shelter animals. 44 News
- ➤ YWCA Evansville and Stepping Up Evansville will host a Women’s Equality Day Luncheon at Bally’s Riverfront Event Center on Aug. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring keynote speaker Susan Hardwick and honoring +Erika Norris Taylor, who has led the YWCA for 15 years, and the late Elizabeth Bessie Lauenstein, a local pioneer in women’s rights+. - ➤ At a town hall event in Warrick County, a deputy pushed protestor Amanda Bennett after she resisted instructions as she screamed at Lt. Gov. Beckwith—security later arrested Matthew Eike, and both were released on bond while law enforcement reviews footage. 44 News
- ➤ A Warrick County Sheriff's Office investigator accused House candidate Kellie Moore of battery on a police officer at a Micah Beckwith town hall in Newburgh — Moore said she did not touch the officer, and no charges were filed so far. Courier & Press
- ➤ Evansville police are investigating a shooting as a victim with a gunshot wound was found running into traffic near Fulton Avenue and Columbia Avenue at 7:30 a.m.—the injured person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds while a suspect was detained at a separate address. 44 News
- ➤ Luis Hernandez crashed into a fire hydrant late Tuesday night near Joan Court and Joan Avenue, fled the scene, and was found passed out in his car holding a cold beer—he later kicked an officer while being transported to the hospital and now faces charges for operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene, and driving without a license. 44 News

- ➤ The Indiana Energy Association and utility companies spent thousands on meals—such as sports tickets—to influence lawmakers to support pro-nuclear bills that allow utilities to recover costs before starting projects.
