- ➤ Evansville’s Christmas Parade returns on November 23rd along North Main Street from Division Street to Garvin Park, starting at 2:30 p.m. Santa’s Workshop begins at 12:00 p.m. at Hope City Church with crafts, treats, games and free photos with Santa to honor local sports icons. 44 News
- ➤ Leonard Collins, a longtime resident and president of the Goosetown Neighborhood Association, died. Many local leaders remembered his service and impact—funeral arrangements have not been announced. 44 News
- ➤ The Salvation Army will host a coat giveaway for residents of Vanderburgh and Warrick counties on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—attendees must be present to pick up free coats while supplies last. 44 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Evansville Police arrested suspect Jeron T. Sebree after a handgun discharged during an altercation early Sunday morning near Kentucky Avenue and Gum Street and hurt three people — officers found a spent shell casing and lots of blood — as they continue the investigation. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Evansville City Council approved a new wheel tax lowering fees to $30 for commercial vehicles, $20 for passenger vehicles and $10 for motorcycles during Monday’s meeting — the amendment passed 8-1, will go to Mayor Stephanie Terry for signature before taking effect Jan. 1, and is expected to raise about $2.2 million per year for road repairs —. - ➤ Evansville city commissioners approved a new wheel tax that will raise vehicle registration fees in 2026—motorcycles will cost $10, cars and SUVs $20, and larger trucks $30. The extra funds, estimated at $2.7 million, will go entirely to local road repairs and maintenance. 44 News

- ➤ The USA TODAY Network Indiana high school football poll is out and shows rankings for classes 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A and A, with Brownsburg, New Palestine, Bishop Chatard, Evansville Memorial, Adams Central and Providence leading each group.
