- ➤ Evansville Police responded at 5 p.m. Wednesday to a call on East Gum Street and found a woman beyond help—she was pronounced dead at the scene and her death is under investigation. 44 News
- ➤ Officers arrested two people on Wednesday night at Parkview Housing Projects after a victim was attacked with a baseball bat, leaving him with injuries to his face, arms & legs as a witness reported that Jose Raga struck him repeatedly and Mayglin Raga also joined in the assault. 44 News
- ➤ Former Vanderburgh County judicial aide Regene Newman admitted to misappropriating more than $125,000 through unauthorized purchases and double-billed timesheets and asked for probation before a sentencing hearing at 10:30 a.m. today at the federal courthouse—federal prosecutors seek a 21-month prison sentence while her lawyer argues she is unlikely to reoffend. - ➤ A 20-year-old Newburgh man was arrested and is in Vanderburgh County Jail after being accused of raping a victim in a USI dorm room in late September 2024—investigators highlighted phone records, online searches, and DNA tests that support the charges. 44 News
